Collection: Zeba
My work is inspired by the marks of human activity all around us such as the time-worn
industrial buildings, cracking paint and casual graffiti. They tell stories of the past and the
present and speak of the universal human wish to be seen. It is as if voices are quietly
asserting, "I am/was here"
I build layers of colour and texture with stains, slips and underglazes to capture this
layered, palimpsest like quality on the clay body. The layers on each wheel-thrown or slab
rolled piece are built over the course of two or three firings.
